When the 70′s came around, people were still hanging on to some of the fashions from the movies in the later 1960′s. This is definitely not to say that the 70′s didn’t show some amazing fashions themselves. Many people today still love the fashions of the 70′s. Everything from the hair down to the shoes are still popular today. Many of these styles came from the movies of the era.
Some people wonder when it was that women started dressing in more of a "manly" fashion. This came about in 1977, when Diane Keaton starred in Annie Hall. In this movie, she popularized the notion of a more unisex look for women. In fact, because of the styles in this movie, more and more women decided to learn how to tie a tie – and not just so that they could help their husbands get theirs right. The look of a woman wearing a tie came about through the advent of this movie.
Saturday Night Fever was a huge blockbuster, and not only that, it paved the way for some of the fashions that we now know. This movie, which came out in 1977 can be said to be the start in popularity of the leisure suit for men. It only became extremely popular after John Travolta wore one in this movie.
One movie that is still popular today that came out in the 70′s, and epitomized the fashions of cult followers, at the very least, is Rocky Horror Picture Show. This movie, which first was shown in 1975 sparked the interest of many in lingerie parties and crazy fashion styles.
Everything from bell bottoms to mini skirts were popular in the 70′s. Many of these styles came straight from the movies, and the celebrities that populated these films. Whether on camera or off, these stars knew how to bring on new styles.
