Fashion at the 2011 Oscars

There was a huge splash of color at the 2011 Oscars. Red seemed to be the color of choice for many celebrities as they made their way down the red carpet. Although you also saw some very muted hues such as nude and other understated colors, the shades of red stood out.

There was tangerine worn by Jennifer Hudson and a deep red worn by Sandra Bullock. Anne Hathaway walked the red carpet in a red Valentino before she made her way to her presenting duties.

The dresses in 2011 also had a wide range of styles. There was the usual over the top style with beading and lace, and then there was the simplicity of the Chanel dress worn by Michele Williams with the short sleeves and understated beading. The neutral color worked with her platinum hair to make her a red carpet success. Halle Berry is known for her red carpet looks and she did it again in 2011. The nude Marchesa gown was a perfect fit for her and as usual she was stunning as she made her way down the red carpet.

There was also the risk takers. Cate Blanchet showed up in a Givenchy dress with a gladiator look. Although the color worked for her, the style was boxy and seemed to be a little to risky for the Oscars. Another structural dress was worn by Nicole Kidman. The Dior she wore had a lot of structural pieces that didn’t seem to work well on her.

As a contrast the to the structured look worn by Kidman and Blanchet, Mila Kunis wore a very flowing Elie Sabb gown. It was inspired by a lingerie look and was a beautiful lilac color.
